Who We Are

Friends of Ofanim supports Ofanim in Israel by increasing awareness of the organization in the U.S., bringing Americans to Israel to see Ofanim at work, and raising funds for Ofanim to continue its ongoing work and growth. Founded in 2005, Friends of Ofanim is in close contact with Ofanim and maintains a strategic partnership on program design and development. Friends of Ofanim regularly visit Ofanim in the Negev and Northern Israel to see first-hand how Ofanim’s buses motivate and enrich children’s lives.

What We Do

When Ofanim staff or Board members visit the U.S., we meet with them and introduce them to potential donors and leaders in the U.S. Jewish community. Our network of Friends hosts events throughout the U.S. to introduce Ofanim to our communities, and to elevate the awareness of the serious problems in Israel’s education system and the ingenious ways in which Ofanim is making a difference. Ofanim is funded substantially by individuals and corporations in Israel. The Israeli Board has determined that no more than half of the funds raised for Ofanim will be raised in the US. Ofanim is a partnership between the US and Israel, not a dependency.

How We Work

We provide essential financial and advisory support to Ofanim, which helps ensure that it continues to provide excellent educational opportunities to Israel’s poorest children for years to come. We welcome anyone interested in getting involved, contributing financially or learning more about our work.
